Elton John is dishing it out in this month’s Rolling Stone, pleading for Billy Joel to “do something better” than what he’s doing now. He continues: “At the end of the day, he’s coasting,” says John. “I always say, ‘Billy, can’t you write another song?’ It’s either fear or laziness. It upsets me. Billy’s a conundrum. We’ve had so many cancelled tours because of illnesses and various other things, alcoholism.” But perhaps the most shocking part of the interview is how he’s trying to get Rush Limbaugh to change his stance on gay unions — and how Limbaugh called John to congratulate him and his partner David on the birth of their new baby. “My goal is for Rush to say, ‘I support civil partnerships,’ and if I rang him right now, I think he might agree,” says John.
