When Craig Ferguson’s “Late Late Show” successor was announced, it’s safe to say that most Americans responded with “Who?” James Corden may not be the most well-known man in America, but he’s had a thriving career in England for years. We’ve put together a list of things you should know about your newest “Late Late Show” host.

1. He raps

Aside from showing off his rap skills when he can, he was also featured on rapper Dizzee Rascal’s “Shout,” which became an unofficial anthem of the English soccer team during the 2010 World Cup.

2. He’s a Tony winner

OK, when we said no one in America knew who he was, we could have added the note: except for Broadway fans. Corden won a Tony for his role in “One Man, Two Guvnors,” a production that originally launched in the UK before transferring to Broadway because of its immense popularity.

3. He played the lead in “Into the Woods”

It’s OK if you didn’t remember him from this. Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt were also in it, and the Baker (Corden’s role), while important, is a little less glamorous than the other characters.

4. He once kissed Harry Styles

We don’t totally understand what’s going on in most British talk shows, but in one of them, a “sports-themed comedy game show” called “A League of Their Own” that Corden hosted, they started doing a kiss cam, and ended up with him and Harry Styles kissing. Actually, we may have more questions than answers about that whole situation.
