Ashley Graham gets her own thick-thighed Barbie

Model Ashley Graham has had an explosive year since she became the first plus-sized model to cover Sports Illustrated’s coveted swimsuit issue in February. Since then, she has started a plus-sized lingerie line that she modeled during New York Fashion Week. And in December, the 28-year-old will be co-hosting the revamped America’s Next Top Model with Rita Ora on VH1!

But Graham’s biggest accomplishment might only be about 10 inches. During Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards gala in Hollywood, the model was presented with her very own curvy Barbie doll, complete with thighs that touch! Graham told the Huffington Post that it was a detail she was adamant about when working with Mattel to create her plastic twin. She told the toy company “if her thighs don’t touch, she’s not authentic.”

Graham was honored for promoting inclusivity in fashion. She proves that the mantra is true: thick thighs do save lives!

Update:As part of Ashley Graham’s Glamour of the Year honor, she donated a one-on-one workout, styling session and photoshoot with herself to giving platform, eBay for Charity. The proceeds raised from this auction will go to non-profit, The Girl Project and will help girls around the world to finish their education. The auction ends at 8:00am PT on Thursday 17, November.
