Azealia Banks is keeping her mouth shut — sort of.

And when you are me, a reporter trying to request an interview with the controversial rapper, this can be limiting. The rules are as follows:

— Azealia Banks only does interviews via e-mail through her management team, due to her schedule and recording commitments

— Azealia Banks will not talk about controversies — involving her, or anyone or anything else for that matter. (So her opinion on Brexit is off the table.)

— Azealia Banks willonlyspeak about her upcoming projects, her role in RZA’s musical drama “Coco” and her tour, and pretty much nothing else

While the opportunity to write “Azealia Banks versus the internet,” addressing her neverending stream of social media rants and feuds, and the professional consequences they’ve caused, would have been ideal, we were always going to talk about the music, too.

Anyway, this leaves us with the below— preserved in full, emotives and all:

Can we talk about the decision to keep the name “FANTASEA”for “FANTASEA 2”? Should this been seen as a sequel album?

Yes it’s definitely a sequel. Itsactually titledFantasea 2 The Second Wave”.

So much haschanged since you released “212” — what advice would you have for the woman singing that song/that version of you? How have your grown as an artist since then?

I would tell that woman/myself that it will all past and its all a learning process…trial anderror.

Any truth to rumors that you’ll be on“Celebrity Big Brother”? What are you thoughts on reality TV? Do you watch it at all?

No Iwon’tbe on“Celebrity Big Brother“. I have no idea where that came from. Reality tv is cool.I would possibly do a reality show but only if i had total creative control :). I use to watch Love and Hip Hop New York here and there but nothing as of recent.

Can you tell us about the status of“Coco”? What’s the next step for the film once it receives a release date? Would you ever do another musical— theater or live TV?

Coco is in the final editing stages and will be out Spring/Summer 2017!! I started in musical theater at a very young age so yes I would do more theater.

What do you wish people knew about you? What should people know before they come to your shows? Before they listen to your music?

People should knowI’mhere for the experience however and whatever it may be :). They should know they’re going be entertained
