The Word: Ben Affleck is the new Batman; the Internet is losing it

In the upcoming sequel to "Man of Steel," the role of Superman's ol' buddy Batman has gone to Ben Affleck. The Internet has some feelings about this casting choice.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” director Zack Snyder said in a statement to Variety. “I can’t wait to work with him.”
Many on Twitter, however, had a different take on this casting choice for the Caped Crusader. "Oh man, I hope the next movie's gonna be "Batman vs. Daredevil"! All Affleck all the time!!!" tweeted Weird Al.
"Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli," said actor and professional geek Wil Wheaton.
Meanwhile, a petition on Change.org to remove Affleck from the role has already reached 1,500 signatures, proving once again that nerds can be just as mean than the meanest popular girl from your high school.
