Jay Z can’t get a break. No one is catching the Tidal wave, including his wife. Beyonce originally was all in, dropping exclusive tracks on the streaming service, but now Sony is threatening to yank them off, saying it violates her contract with them. Right now, Sony and Tidal are in the midst of talking money, so it’s still up in the air. Sony is waiting for Jay Z to pay up, although the amount of money they are asking for has not been disclosed. Considering one of the draws of Tidal is that it is theoretically a place for artists to drop new music (Beyonce and Nicki Minaj used the platform to release their “Feeling Myself” video), this could really put a wrench into the platform’s plans. It’s just another hurdle on an already crowded track.
