The theme of the Big Night was A Big Night of Super Heroes. These Super Heroes included over 1,100 of New England’s most prestigious dignitaries, philanthropists and fashionistas. These impressive people raised over half a million more than last year’s Big Night fundraiser. According to the press release, the fundraiser was even named “the party of the year” by the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. The party was hosted at the House of Blues. The event was an enormous success with featured performances by Peter Wolf, the Midnight Travelers and French Lick.

Besides those in attendance, Big Brothers Big Sisters paid tribute to Jim Pallotta. The former founder and Board member was celebrated for his profound impact on the agency and on the Boston community. Pallotta created the first Big Night fundraiser in 1998. Since then, the fundraiser received more than $37 million for the cause. This money allowed for more than 20,000 friendships between young people and mentors.

“Jim continues to be a valuable source of wise counsel to the agency and has been a transformational donor who leads by example, impacting the lives of tens of thousands of children in our community,” Wendy Foster, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, said in a press release. “For the last 20 years, Jim and our loyal community of donors have helped the Big Night become a celebration of both the agency’s mission and the community that supports it, and we will continue leveraging that support with the goal of matching every child on our waiting list with a positive, adult mentor.”

All donations resulting from the Big Night party allows the nearly 100 percent donor-supported agency to continue its mission. Big Brothers Big Sisters continues to change the lives of children, make healthier families, better schools and stronger communities for all.
