Was Oxycodone and Fentanyl responsible for Demi Lovato overdose?

What drugs did Demi Lovato overdose on?

While several news outlets have reported that the singer overdosed on heroin, new details have surfaced saying the Demi Lovato overdose scare was not caused by heroin.

According to TMZ, Lovato was out partying with friends in West Hollywood before she texted a drug dealer to meet her at her house at 4 a.m. A source allegedly told TMZ that the drug dealer sold Lovato a bad batch of drugs and has a reputation for buying dirty drugs.

On July 24 paramedics arrived at Demi Lovato house and found her unresponsive as a result of an alleged heroin overdose. Paramedics used the emergency medication Narcan to revive her before rushing her to a Los Angeles hospital for treatment.   Lovato was in the hospital for two weeks before going to a rehab facility.

Demi Lovato overdose linked to Oxycodone?

According to TMZ, Demi Lovato freebased Oxycodone on tin foil with her drug dealer. Sources say that the drugs were also laced with Fentanyl — the same powerful drug that killed Prince and rapper Lil Peep.

The source told TMZ that the drug dealer fled her home when he noticed Demi Lovato was breathing heavily.  Lovato allegedly had been using the same drug dealer since April, according to the TMZ report.

While all the details are unclear about what drugs Demi Lovato overdosed the shocking new details released by TMZ shed light on what drugs caused her to be rushed to the hospital.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notes that there is a steady trend in the use of counterfeit oxycodone made with the dangerous opioid Fentanyl. In May, Mississippi’s Gulfport Police Department released a public notice warning people about the dangers of Oxycodone laced with Fentanyl. In the report, the police department notes that they have seized blue Oxycodone pills marked with “A215.” The pills that were seized did not contain Oxycodone and were made with Fentanyl.

A215 Fake Oxycodone laced with fentanyl linked to Demi Lovato overdose

While these findings were not directly connected to the Demi Lovato overdose incident the information provided the Gulfport Police Department and the new details obtained by TMZ indicate that Lovato could have used Oxycodone pills that were made with Fentanyl.
