Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham — a very pleasant pair that I always forget are a thing — welcomed a baby boy over the weekend. Hooray for conventionally attractive Brits everywhere!
The 30-year-old model shared the news via Instagram, as you do when you’re a celebrity slash influencer type. “Our little man arrived!” she wrote. “Jack Oscar Statham – 8.8 lbs on Saturday June 24th.” Awww. So sweet of them to give their kid a normal, regular ass name.
Huntington-Whiteley announced her pregnancy in February, also via Instagram post. Because she is nothing if not consistent. And the picture she used? Well, of course a picture of her in a bikini, on the beach, working the hell out of that gut full of baby! Work, girl. “Very happy to share that Jason and I are expecting!!” she wrote.
49-year-old Statham hasn’t made any announcements on his Instagram, but I’m thinking that’s because he mostly uses the app for brooding, black and white photographs of himself. It would be off brand to just plop a baby in the middle of that.
Huntington-Whiteley and Statham have been together since 2010. They confirmed their engagement about a year and a half ago, and by “confirmed,” I mean, Huntington-Whiteley was wearing a diamond ring on the red carpet of the Golden Globes that year. Slick!
Anyway, congratulations to the couple and bravo again for giving your child the gift of not being named after like, a wild animal. Good on y’all!
