Former "Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens is looking to make amends for ruining Christmas for the hit British TV show's fans.

"I really am sorry about that," tells the Radio Times about his character's surprise exit, which capped off last year's Christmas special. "I think what emerged is that it's an unwritten rule that you're not supposed to die on British television on Christmas Day.

"That, specifically, was not my doing."
