If only we could all age as gracefully as “The Lion King.” After 17 years on Broadway, the groundbreaking theatrical spectacle became the highest-grossing show of all time this past September. On Jan. 4, The Broadway League released its complete data set from 2014 – the highest-grossing, most-attended year to date in theater history. And it’s no surprise that the highest-grossing show overall for the second year in a row is Disney’s “The Lion King.”
The stage adaptation of the animated family film took home the title despite the fact that six shows had a higher average ticket price, and at least 15 other shows had higher top-priced tickets.
