When you have a food craving, you have a one-track mind. You want to know all about the best slice of buffalo chicken pizza and where to find it. There is no time to scour entire restaurant menus, and no need for snooty comments about service and décor. Luckily, a new app is here to solve this first-world problem. Chewsy’s dish-specific reviews allow you to discover and share food, one plate at a time.

The free mobile app contains thousands of food reviews on a dish-by-dish basis. You can search by food or by restaurant; either way, reviews are broken down by specific menu item. While most reviews come from regular patrons, yellow stars indicate they came from critics. Chewsy aggregates many well-researched reviews from major critics, publications, food blogs, and TV shows.
Ratings take the form of one to five spoons. Users can rate a dish, snap a picture of it, and provide some commentary. Chewsy even helps its more inarticulate users express their opinions; an auto-post generator can give you hundreds of witty one-liners (i.e., “I’d let the Tiramisu at Lambaster’s eat crackers in my bed”).
Sharing these opinions is a major focus. Chewsy can be integrated with Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, users can receive notifications, and “like” reviews within the app itself.
Whether you'd rather see what your friends recommend or what Guy Feiri suggests, Chewsy invites everyone to the table. This app reminds us that a diner doesn’t have to be condemned for its soggy fries or sticky floors; you can highlight its killer shakes. The focus is on the food.
