Get patriotic at these fun Fleet Week events

Between Fleet Week kicking off on Wednesday and the three-day Memorial Day weekend, patriotism is in the air. Check out these events and special offers:

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
Pier 86, West 46th Street and 12th Avenue

All week long, the ship is offering themed tours and hosting a series of events along Pier 86. Highlights include a performances by the USO Show Troupe (Sat. 3 p.m., Sun. 4:30 p.m.) and the Broadway cast of “Rock of Ages” (Sun. 1 p.m.) and a search-and-rescue demonstration by the Coast Guard (Mon. 2 p.m.) Check out the museum’s website for a full listing of events and special hours.

Summer Movie Series: “Top Gun”

In its sixth year, the Intrepid’s monthly open-air screenings take off with Tom Cruise’s classic Air Force flick. Bring your picnic gear and spread out on the flight deck, but space is first come, first served.

“A Hard Decision”

This all-veteran production, part staged reading and part musical, explores a complicated love story set in Staten Island during the Vietnam War. Stick around for an appearance by the author, Bronx native Westley Thomas.

Fleet Week Tour of New York Harbor

Learn about the harbor’s significance during World War II, including oral histories from people who worked on the city’s waterfront during that era, on this yacht tour while taking in a unique view of the massive military ships in town for Fleet Week. Get $10 off through May 26.

Support injured service members by eating barbecue this weekend. A portion of proceeds from every order at every Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will go to support the nonprofit Wounded Warrior Project, which helps veterans and their families.
