We begin this episode of “Girls” with an end. Adam comes and plucks his condom off, then pulls his clothes on to leave Hannah’s apartment. He promises Hannah, “It’s not always going to be like this.” Of course, Hannah ruins it by saying, “But does part of you think it is always going to be like this?” She quickly apologizes, and for once the camera focuses on just her face even though she’s naked.

Adam is at Ray’s practicing his English accent when Hannah pops in wearing striped pajama shorts and no bra underneath her tank top. Ray gets nervous and retreats into his room. Hannah tells Adam she had to go to Ray’s because she was nervous about Adam not having his banana and a half in the morning. “So where are the bananas?” Adam asks. Hannah has a meltdown about how she has to be around Adam. At least he has the decency to take her home before explaining that he needs time alone.

Soo Jin is wearing floral overalls and telling an artist she has the perfect font for her: aggressive and bold. “I hate it,” says the artist. After Soo Jin leaves, Marnie chats with the artist about how much she admires her photography. She asks her how she gets away with taking the photos. “Now I’m old and no one ever looks at me anyway,” she says from her wheelchair, sadly.

Hannah asks Elijah if he’ll come to Marnie’s open mic event and he says no: “She sucks and she needs to stop.” He says she’s too hopeful and suddenly purses his lips into a Bible-Belt Shirley Temple; “Papa, am I good enough?” he asks in a drawl. Hannah has to reinterview Patti Lupone because she didn’t get enough info on her bone density issues. Elijah begs to come along and touch “one Tony.” Hannah quips no: “Especially not if her husband is named Tony.”

Desi and Marnie sing the song they wrote together, which Desi says is “f—ing amazing.” Desi reveals that he saw Marnie’s mortifying YouTube video and that it made him very uncomfortable. “Loosey goosey, super natural,” he advises her for the open mic.

No one’s more loosey goosey than Jessa, who is flopping her long hair and dancing maniacally in Shoshanna’s apartment. She dances till she drops on the floor, wailing.

Elijah and Hannah head over to Miss Lupone’s, where Patti tells Elijah he looks like a “f—ing Kennedy.” I mean, if any of the Kennedys had gayface, maybe. Patti is another loosey goosey one this episode, or at least she’s drunk. She teaches the millennials about confidence and forces them to stay over for dinner. Patti’s husband is a failed writer and Hannah starts getting nervous that he only failed because Patti’s career took off. He assures her that, yes, this is the case. Hannah picks up her drink.

The next day Hannah and her colleagues sit at a meeting about their next campaign before Hannah goes rogue. “What the f— are we doing here? What’s happening at this table is the biggest squanderization of talent I’ve ever seen.” Then she takes her wrath out on everyone around the table, calling one of her coworkers a “former poet” instead of a real poet. She calls her office a “sweatshop agency for puns.” Janice fires her, before Hannah declares that she’s quitting.

Jessa storms into Marnie’s gallery and points at one of the artist’s photos and says it’s bad. Marnie tries to get her to shut it, but of course in the world of Jessa everything works out and Bedelia (the artist) takes Jessa’s criticism well and tells Marnie to take it out of the show. She walks out to find a job and Bedelia asks her what she’s looking for. “Anything that doesn’t market my sexuality,” she says, sticking a leg out of her skirt Angelina-style. Bedelia offers her a job.

“This is gonna be a real s—show,” grins Elijah. “Marnie, we love you!” he screams at open mic night. Marnie is actually sounding really good, when Shoshanna ruins the moment in her shrill voice and asks Hannah if she’s going to be OK because clearly both Adam and Marnie are going to be famous and Hannah’s “just working in advertising.” Afterward, Marnie is glowing from the praise but she gives credit to Desi as she puts her hand on the small of his back. Desi’s girlfriend Clementine leaps over and introduces herself, putting a slight damper on Marnie’s night.

Marnie walks into Ray’s apartment and starts kissing him. Ray hesitates, and Marnie warns him she’ll be waiting for him in his room, naked.

Desi, Adam and the cast are all laughing and making theater jokes over drinks when Hannah announces that she got fired from her job, but she informs them she purposely got fired — for the unemployment benefits. Everyone breaks eye contact and Hannah willfully stares at them.

Hannah follows Adam back to Ray’s and learns that Adam doesn’t plan to move in as early as she’d thought. Suddenly, she hears Ray having sex but the woman’s moans sound familiar. Hannah barges in and sees Marnie on top of Ray. “You will never judge me again,” she spits as she closes the door.
