Dave Brockie, front man of heavy metal band GWAR, was found dead in his Richmond, Virginia, home on Sunday. He was 50 years old.
The cause of death has not been released and the medical examiner will perform an autopsy, but police do not suspect foul play, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Brockie, who performed under the name Oderus Urungus, had been with the band since 1984 and was its last remaining original member. GWAR, known for their elaborate costumes and theatrical concerts, released their 13th album in 2013 and recently returned from a tour in Japan.
If you'd like to take a moment to enjoy Oderus Urungus' work, here is a video of GWAR covering Billy Ocean's pop hit "Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car." It's not safe for work, because it's GWAR. Even photos of GWAR are often not safe for work. Brockie, I believe, is the one in the demon mask and the — well, if you're at work, never mind what else he has on.In memoriam.
