Hasty Pudding established "The Man of the Year Award" in 1967. The award is full of significant recipients such as Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Robert DeNiro, Harrison Ford, Justin Timberlake, Robert Downey Jr., Joseph Gordon-Levitt and more, besides Rudd and Ventimiglia. Hasty Pudding awards an actor who has "made lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.”

“We are so excited to honor Milo Ventimiglia as our 53rd Annual Man of the Year,” Grace Ramsey, President of HPT, said in a press release. Ventimiglia is a two-time Emmy-nominated actor with his performance in the acclaimed drama series, “This Is Us.” He was the recipient of the Critic’s Choice Award for Best Act in a Drama Series for playing Jack Pearson in the popular show. “This Is Us” also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Drama.

In the beginning of his career, he played notorious bad boy Jess in the popular “Gilmore Girls.” The beloved show recently returned to Netflix with a four-episode sequel. His other impressive acting credits include the FOX drama “Gotham,” the TNT drama “Lost Angels,” NBC’s “Heroes,” and acclaimed drama “American Dreams.”

The Man of the Year festivities will be on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, with a parade through Cambridge with Ventimiglia. Afterwards, there will be a celebratory roast for the actor. Ventimiglia will be presented the Pudding Pot at Farkas Hall in Harvard Square. A press conference will follow the presentation at 8:30 p.m. Finally, Hasty Pudding Theatricals will preview their production of “France France Revolution,” a historic first production featuring a cast comprised of both men and women.
