If your idea of a successful shopping day involves lazily flipping through books while sipping on a cappuccino, you're in luck. Barnes & Noble is giving book lovers a whole day of deeply discounted deals and it's happening a whole week earlier than Black Friday, so you can stay inside with your new books and avoid the shopping mobs.

The store is launching its first ever Discovery Friday, happening Nov. 22, with holiday deals and knowledgeable staff to help shoppers find the perfect book for everyone on their list. The stores are also bringing in noted authors to sign books and host games. There will be giveaways at each store, and the chance to win a $1,000 Barnes & Noble shopping spree. Each store is also hosting kid-friendly events, such as an "Elf on the Shelf" special story time at 7 p.m.

If you'd rather get your book deals at home in your PJs, log on to Amazon.com from now until Christmas. The site is offering special deals on a new book every day. To get going, click the Black Friday deals button in the upper-right corner and in the categories section, select Books.
