HBO announced Wednesday morning that it will commission a new season of "Project Greenlight," with original producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck returning. The show, which covered the process of directing a movie through the eyes of a Hollywood newcomer, ran for three seasons in the early 2000s.
Miramax will also be producing, along with Affleck and Damon's production company, Adaptive Studios. Affleck praised the show for being ahead of its time, and noted that advances in technology meant that "a whole new generation of filmmakers has grown up sharing everything, and the next big director could be just an upload away."
While the movies made through the program didn't exactly take the world by storm, the second, "The Battle of Shaker Heights," starred nascent Hollywood superstar (and then Disney star) Shia LaBeouf. Fingers crossed that the next season introduces us to our next performance artist/unlikely Indiana Jones offspring.
