The Barnes Foundation is paying homage to the Philadelphia Flower Show with an ensemble of music, art and nature including a performance of Aaron Copeland’s “Appalachian Spring” by the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, a short film screening, a gallery discussion on the new exhibit “Yinka Shonibare MBE: Magic Ladders,” and “20 Plants in 20 Minutes,” which discusses the Merion Arboretum. This event will spring you into the equinox.

The Philadelphia Orchestra, led by guest conductor Stephane Deneve, is doing a wondrous tandem of Beethoven and 20th century composer Shostakovich. Violinist Nikolaj Znaider is spotlighted during Beethoven’s only concerto for the violin while Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 thunders and soars.
