Even the soothing voice of Top 40 radio is not immune to the problems of old age. Casey Kasem, who hosted a national radio show from 1970 to 2004, suffers from advanced Parkinson's and can no longer speak. Now his children from his first marriage are claiming that his wife, Jean Kasem, has hidden him away in an unknown facility.
Kasem's daughter, Kerri Kasem, told a Los Angeles judge that her stepmother has been moving the famed DJ and voice actor from one facility to another to keep his children away from him. Her attorney told the court that they believe Kasem may be on an Indian reservation in Washington state, according to WTAE.
Jean Kasem's attorney, Craig Marcus, said in the hearing that Casey Kasem has been taken out of the country but that only Jean knows where. "I have no idea where he is," he told the judge, but said that Jean Kasem has the right to arrange her husband's care as she sees fit.
The judge granted Kerri Kasem a temporary conservatorship, allowing her to access her father's medical records and find out what has happened to him.
