The Word: Jon Cryer’s wife wants $88k a month because their son is ashamed of being “poor”

OK, maybe it’s because I’m writing this while fighting a Halloween party-induced hangover of truly terrifying proportions, but when I read this item on TMZ I almost went all Chris Brown on my computer.

Jon Cryer (aka the dude that is not Charlie Sheen from “Two and a Half Men”) is in a court battle with his ex-wife, who is asking for 88 thousand bucks a month in child support. Because their son is apparently being humiliated at school. For being poor.

Excuse me for a minute while I jump out of this window.

Cryer’s ex, Sarah Trigger, is currently receiving a piddly $8k a month, which is not enough to keep their son Charlie from being poor-shamed at his private school. For example, Charlie’s friends get to go on “exotic vacations in the summer and winter, like Europe and Thailand.” Poor (literally?) Charlie, on the other hand, has to summer on, like, the Cape or something, like some common schmuck. Life is hard.

On the one hand, if my ex was raking in millions for a crappy, inexplicably popular (no, f’real, who watches that show?) sitcom I’d probably have my fat hand out too.

On the other hand, being embarrassed about being “poor” is not a claim that should hold up in court. Or in life.

On a third hand, if this kid is actually being bullied for being middle class, or whatever, that’s a whole other issue. Sort of makes you yearn for the good old days, when kids were just stuffed into lockers for being nerds.
