Kanye cancels impromptu show, causes light rioting

Why does Kanye have the world’s biggest ego? Maybe because we keep fanning it. In the wee hours of Sunday night/Monday morning, the musical god — who was supposed to headline New York’s Governors Ball, which was abruptly canceled due to a not-quite-mega-storm — announced he’d make do an impromptu super-secret show at 2 a.m.

But the power of Kanye was too great: Despite it being a school night, a few thousand fans quickly flocked to Webster Hall in the East Village, shutting down the block. As quickly as he had announced the show, West called it off, owing to too much demand (or rather a venue that couldn’t contain all his followers). At least everyone took the news well: They partied a bit in the street, partook in some light vandalism and then moved to the Trump Soho hotel, where he was alleged to have been staying. Yes, this will definitely force Kanye into some soul-searching and wonder if his Twitter feed might, you know, be a bit wacko.
