Katniss vs. Tris: Who really won at the MTV Movie Awards?

Metro dissects who had the most successful night at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards: "Divergent" character Tris or "The Hunger Games" character Katniss.

A lot happened at last night's MTV Movie Awards: Seth Rogan made out with his mom, Rihanna and Eminem teamed up to perform "Monster," and Zac Efron took his shirt off. (OK, so the last one's not so unusual.) And while the competition was fierce for awards like Best Kiss and Best Villain, the real showdown was between Katniss and Tris, or more appropriately, the women who played them: Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley.

Which kick-ass female had the biggest and most successful night? Woodley scored some points right off the bat for even going to the MTV Movie Awards; Lawrence wasn't there. And not only did Woodley show up, she nailed her red carpet look, standing out in an olive Balmain dress.

When it came to that golden popcorn, the "Favorite Character" award went to Tris while "Movie of the Year" went to "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," scoring each starlet a win. But because the "Favorite Character" award shows a more pointed win in the Katniss vs. Tris battle, we have to give this one to Tris. And, scoring extra points is the fact that Zedd and Ellie Goulding gave a chilling performance of two songs off the "Divergent" soundtrack, "Beating Heart" and "Find You."

The past few years may have all been about Lawrence and Katniss, but it looks like a new fierce female has taken over, both on-screen and off.
