It’s official: Katy Perry headlining Super Bowl halftime show

The NFL has confirmed rumors that Katy Perry will be taking the stage for the next Super Bowl halftime show, taking place Feb. 1 in Glendale, Arizona. Perry got in on the announcement action with a video discussing various ideas for the show in her “testing facility,” including kittens and edible glitter. After recent years featuring Madonna and Beyonce, it will be interesting to see what Perry can bring to the ridiculously high-profile gig — and what Illuminati references conspiracy theorists can glean from it. She’s certainly off to a great start with all the triangle imagery in her current Prismatic Tour.

Still unclear, though? Whether tour director Baz Halpin is risking the ire of Taylor Swift by working with Perry on the show. I’m thinking he maybe didn’t take Swift’s alleged threat too seriously. Also, way to go on Perry’s part for managing to steal plenty of focus during the American Music Awards despite not actually being there.
