Lena Dunham and David Sedaris team up for Carnegie Hall gig

“Girls” creator Lena Dunham and comedian David Sedaris will appear together at Carnegie Hall in November.

Fan favorites and famous neurotics David Sedaris and Lena Dunham are joining forces at Carnegie Hall for a one-night special, “Alone Together at Last,” on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m.

The two humorists will be on stage together to read and engage in what will undoubtedly be side-splittingly hilarious conversation. Both writers have contributed essays to the New Yorker.

Sedaris just published his first nonfiction book in more than five years, “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls,” in April, which debuted at the top of the New York Times best-sellers list. For the show, he will read from his cutting, insightful and witty works.

Sedaris got his start when he happened to meet Ira Glass at a bar, and was quickly thrown onto “This American Life” to read his smart and wacky essays on both the mundane and outrageous things that have happened in his life. He has since published several best-selling essay collections and received a Grammy nomination.

Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham is the highly acclaimed executive producer, writer and director for “Girls,” the wildly popular show on HBO that has captured the hearts and minds of the millennial generation. “Girls” takes viewers into the unglamorous world of overeducated, underpaid 20-somethings living in Brooklyn, dealing with self-doubt at every corner.

The series has been praised for its self-aware sense of humor, and Dunham has become a rising star in the world of entertainment. She has also been lauded for her film “Tiny Furniture,” and she is publishing a collection of essays to be titled “Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned,” to be published in 2014.
