The Word: Lena Dunham wrote to a sex columnist at 19

Once again, I have to stand up and salute Lena Dunham for her willingness to expose her most embarrassing moments to the world.

]If I had written to a sex columnist at age 19 for advice about losing my virginity, you guys would never, ever hear about it. Lena Dunham, on the other hand, put that amazingness on Instagram her own self.

"I'm a 19-year-old girl who has been reading your column since its inception, and I've always wanted to write in," she wrote. "I have a reasonable amount of sexual experience but somehow I have managed to stay a virgin (as have a few of my friends). Once you're 19, people seem to expect you've done it six ways to Sunday." Dunham explained that her virginity was cramping her style, adding, "It seems to freak guys out, like you're going to get attached to them if they devirginize you... what is the proper etiquette?"

The eagle-eyed realize that this was almost exactly a storyline on "Girls," where it took a surprising amount of effort for Shoshana to divest herself of her v-card. Maybe Lena shouldn't ever post about her real life -- it could be full of "Girls" spoilers.
