During a recent interview with Howard Stern, Madonna told the radio host about her rape when she first moved to New York at the age of 19, and why she never reported it.
Madonna explained to Stern that she was locked out of her apartment and needed money for a payphone. A man offered to let her use the phone in his apartment, Madonna accepted the offer and then was raped by the man in his home.
When Stern asked her why she never sought help or went to the police Madonna said it wasn’t worth it.
“I was told that if i wanted to press charges, [there] would be a physical examination, I would have to go before the court, they were going to ask [me] all these personal questions. You’ve already been violated so then.. do you want to talk about it? Make it public? No, it just not worth it. It’s too humiliating.”
