After an exhaustive search, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures have announced that British actor Tom Holland will play Peter Parker and Spider-Man in both an upcoming reboot film and “Captain America: Civil War.” Holland, 19, becomes the third actor — and the second Brit in a row — to play the popular comic book hero in the past decade, following Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Holland previously appeared opposite Naomi Wattsin the critically acclaimed tsunami drama “The Impossible” and alongside Saoirse Ronan in “How I Live Now.” Later this year, he will appear in Ron Howard’s “In the Heart of the Sea” with “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth.
