“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland had an ugly encounter with a supposed fan while attending a red carpet event in Sydney on Thursday.
Hyland, who plays teen Haley Dunphy on the popular ABC sitcom, is in Australia with the rest of the cast to shoot an episode. While meeting and greeting fans on the red carpet, Hyland agreed to pose for a photo with Nedal Lakmas, 29. A moment later, though, Lakmas grabbed her breasts, according to Page Six.
Hyland pushed the man off her and screamed,“Don’t you touch me there!” Security guards quickly detained Lakmas until the police could arrest him. He’s been charged with assault with an act of indecency.
All that was probably small comfort to poor Sarah Hyland, who left the event early and in tears. She later apologized to fans on Twitter for not being able to stick around to meet them.
Sorry to all the fans outside the #qantas event that I didn’t get to say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch of a fan

Her boyfriend, actor Matt Prokop, had much harsher words for the man who assaulted her.
To the asshole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don’t see next week.

He probably will, but he’ll likely see it through the bars of a jail cell, if that’s any comfort.
