Not to be outdone by cute cats in the West, netizens in China have their own answer to Grumpy Cat: a little furball named Snoopybabe. The flat-faced, globe-eyed feline has more than 280,000 followers on Sina Weibo, China's version of Twitter, and nearly 200,000 followers in Instagram.
Unfortunately for Snoopybabe, whose Chinese name roughly translates to Chubby Red (red is an auspicious color in China), he may never strike it big in the U.S. because Twitter and Facebook are both blocked in China (but not Instagram), though Snoopybabe has an unofficial fan page on Facebook.
Snoopybabe was born in Beijing in May 2011 and lives in Chengdu in Sichuan Province with his owner Miss Ning, reported Xinhua. His favorite foods are beef and goat's milk, and Miss Ning told Xinhua that the vain cat laps his milk very carefully as not to get it on his flat face. He spends 17 hours of his day sleeping, one hour playing with his owner, one hour playing on his own, one hour grooming himself, two hours eating and two hours daydreaming. Ning said what sets her cat apart from the others is his "pie face" and "sweet, innocent eyes."
He comes from very special lineage: Both parents have pedigrees from Cat Fanciers' Association and his father, Elvis, moved from the U.S. to China. Snoopybabe gets his red markings from his mother.
