Last month Sony Pictures Classic looked to amp up excitement ahead of the release of “Call Me By Your Name” by releasing a clip of Armie Hammer partaking in a dance party and dropping some impressive shapes to the Psychedelic Furs’ Love My Way.
It quickly became a viral sensation. You can see exactly why by watching the “Call Me By Your Name” clip in question below.

When I sat down to talk to both Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet about “Call Me By Your Name” I couldn’t resist the opportunity to ask “The Social Network” star about the sudden and rather surprising popularity of his dancing.
“I did not expect it to happen. I guess that I am proud. It was more embarrassing,” Hammer responded at first, before recalling how a choreographer was originally brought in to offer assistance.
“I had one session with a choreographer. And it was with this woman that was hilarious, and it was a ‘Waiting For Guffman’ kind of thing. She had the tights and the scrunchy and the socks. She came in so 80s. She was like, ‘Here we go!! Let’s bounce, and bounce, and then you’re going to turn.’ It was so over the top, I was like, ‘I’m not doing that. Thank you for your time. But no’.”
Chalamet then chimed in, insisting, “You did for the rehearsal,” to which Hammer responded, “I did it for the rehearsal but just to get her out of there.”
But there was a reason why Hammer was so particular about the moves that he was going to drop in “Call Me By Your Name,” as wanted them to feel organic and not just stereotypically 80s.
“The whole thing about it though was like, if someone goes, ‘It is a 70s movie. So dance.’ Everyone is going to a ‘Saturday Night Fever’ thing. But that’s not how everyone in the 70s danced. It was more what you were feeling and went with.”
“And that’s what the vibe of the scene needed to be. You just needed to feel it and go with it. Not thinking about anything else and just enjoying the moment of where you are in the whole thing.”
