Murphy-Goode Winery encourages patrons to raise a glass to U.S. troops with the release of Homefront Red, a new red blend created to raise funds for military families and veterans in need.

The Sonoma County-based winery has supported national nonprofit organization Operation Homefront for two years, and now intends to deepen the commitment. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle of Homefront Red sold will be donated to Operation Homefront, which provides emergency financial assistance to wounded warriors and military families.

“We hope to raise at least $300,000, which will help a lot of families who truly need it,” Murphy-Goode winemaker David Ready Jr. said.

The stated guaranteed contribution to Operation Homefront is $200,000. Operation Homefront has raised over $170 million of funding and aided over 750,000 military families since its inception in 2002.

“Our ability to continue to provide aid to those who have given their lives to protect us is made possible by supporters like the winery and the launch of Homefront Red,” Amy Palmer, chief operating officer for Operation Homefront, said. “If there’s one thing that can make a glass of this wine taste even better, it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change and improve someone’s life with it.”

Homefront Red is a smooth, fruity, blended varietal, available nationwide.
