It may have seemed inevitable, but it's still news: Two-time Emmy Awards and four-time Tony Awards host Neil Patrick Harris has been tapped for the big show. The "Gone Girl" and "How I Met Your Mother" star will serve as host for the 87th Academy Awards on February 22, 2015, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today. Harris has earned four Emmys for his work hosting the Tonys. He has also previously served as host for Spike Video Game Awards.
“It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards," Harris said in a statement. "I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. “To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”
