It's a big fishbowl in the sky; and every Fourth, Top of the Hub throws a party with a cocktail reception, five-course dinner, a live simulcast of the Boston Pops Hatch Shell concert and, weather permitting, spectacular views of the fireworks over the Charles River.
Executive Chef Mark Porcaro's July Fourth 2012 menu is also a celebration of summer. It includes lobster salad with mango, beets and hints of tarragon, plus scallops with grilled watermelon and spicy Habanero. Morel-crusted tenderloin with a summer truffle cognac cream is followed by Cotija cheese with local cherry tomato tostada and then a patriotic red, white and blueberry cheesecake with raspberry mousse.

On the Cape for the Fourth?
Grab a slice of the Centerville Pie Company’s Patriotic Pie, or take home a whole pie, cooked or frozen. Baked to resemble the Stars and Stripes, Patriotic Pie is filled with blueberries and cherries. And, like all CPC pies, it’s encased in a golden, perfectly flaky crust.
Among the many amazing savory and dessert pies, which are all handmade with no artificial what-nots, chicken and apple are the best-sellers.
But the clam pie is a true seaside treat, and the unbelievably tangy Key lime isn’t as sweet as many counterparts. Don’t get us started on the cream pies … hello, hello American yummy pie!
