Nosh on: Take a seat on the couch

Sit back, relax and enjoy some of the tasty sips and eats.

After a hard day, the call of the couch is strong, calm and elegant, The Hawthorne was conceived as a living room with comfy couches and a menu designed as a companion to exactingly created cocktails.

Sandwiches, salads and snacks are equally smartly appointed: Perfect couch finger food, Hawthorne's deviled eggs are topped with either prosciutto crisps, mixed grains or parmesan tuilles. The potato skins aren't the greasy cheddar type; they're made with waxy fingerlings and Raclette -- a young Swiss cheese born to melt. Bacon and horseradish season the simple dish.

Forget the dancing and DJs of its former incarnation as Redline: Park invites relaxation on couches in its book-lined "library" corner. Share the "casting of toasts," a crostini platter that pairs roasted mushroom with Tallegio, shrimp with smoked tomato chutney and mozzarella with pesto. A more substantial plate, Park's chickpea burger has a nice kick from a spicy remoulade and slivers of crisp fennel.

The aptly named Living Room has couches throughout the window-lined bar and serves its full dinner menu until 1 a.m. It gets clubby late at night, with more couch-seating opening up in the "VIP" area. Alongside American bar bites, there's great comfort food. Try the tender IPA-battered cod!

If you go

Chocolate and couches are perfect companions: Hawthorne’s chocolate pot de crème is finished with espresso and Galliano; Park’s chocolate pate has chocolate mousse and fruit compote; and the Living Room’s frozen chocolate banana adds refreshing mint chocolate chip ice cream.
