Model Miranda Kerr has had men mesmerized with her seductive nude shoot for the May issue of British GQ. But if you fancy your girls, well, a bit more manly, take a look at hirsute hot stuff Dom Nader. Nader and Adrian Archer — the creative duo behind Bondi Hipsters — recreated the shoot and Kerr’s quotes to highlight how men and women are portrayed differently by glossy magazines. “Why aren’t men sexualized in the same way as women?” argues Nader. He adds: “Men try to sexualize everything. Whether it be girls in men’s glossies or men in gay mags, women don’t do this in the same way.” The Sydney-based artist explains the motives behind the testosterone-fueled shoot. Metro: How did you feel after the shoot?
I felt a little bit dirty … it was exciting in one way. I’ve done modeling and I used to model pirate costumes at a dressing up shop but this was my first shoot to make something seem fashion-y.
Is this connected to your yet to launch unnamed fashion label?
Our entire label is about over-sexualizing men to the same degree as women. Why is the male nipple not given the same attention as the female nipple? Why if a girl’s got a breast out, it’s adult content but topless men can be anywhere?
Would you do that kind of shoot again?
I’ll have to let the dirtiness wash away and I need to regain a bit of my dignity over the next few weeks but I wouldn’t write it off.
Will you be wearing the stockings in the bedroom?
I think that’s the only way they’re going to get used. No use for them in day-to-life.
What’s going to be your next wacky shoot?
Nude pregnancy shoots seem to be a big deal at the moment. That seems to be selling magazines so we might see if a big food baby on a big nude man might has a similar effect.
You’re quoted as saying that you masturbated on a bus? Did you actually and how did you manage that?
I just had a backpack on my lap. Mind you it was late at night and I was a bit drunk. The other good place is to take the single seat under the stairs on a train.
Is this how you get your kicks?
I don’t make a thing out of it but I did have experimental teenage years.
