Ever since a car crash took Paul Walker's life, fans have wondered what the "Fast & Furious" franchise would do without one of its most beloved stars. Would they cancel "Fast & Furious 7," which was in production when he died? Or finish the movie without him?
On Tuesday, fans finally got their answer, in the form of a note on the "Fast & Furious" Facebook page. The production teams says they will complete the film with Paul Walker's brothers, Caleb and Cody, assuming his role.
Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we loveand lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.
We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.
We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.
The "Fast & Furious 7" team will reportedly use CGI to add Paul's face and voice to his brothers' work. No word on whether the character's death will be addressed in the film - the "Fast & Furious" franchise is still going strong, so there will likely be further films without Walker's character, Brian O'Conner.
