February 4th is World Cancer day and it is an opportunity to reflect and spread awareness about cancer.

World Cancer Day is an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control, an organization that strives to promote equality and to help better understand the disease .

Metro highlights celebrities who are currently living with cancer or have beaten it completely.

Wanda Sykes: Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011.

Carly Simon:Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997.

Fran Drescher:Diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000.

Katy Bates:Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003, breast cancer in 2012.
