Randy Jackson peacing out from ‘American Idol’

Bad news for fans of original recipe “American Idol.” The last remaining Season One judge, Randy Jackson, has announced he is leaving the show for good — or as I like to call it, “Pulling a Dunkelman.” Jackson wasn’t technically a judge for the 13th season of the series, stepping into the role of mentor, but now he’s leaving for good. “After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave ‘American Idol,'” Jackson told People magazine in a statement.

For those keeping track at home, Paula Abdul thought that perfect time was 2009, while Simon Cowell thought it was a year later. Ryan Seacrest, on the other hand, is perfectly happy sticking around and asking audiences to send text messages. Season 14 of “American Idol” returns in January, with just Seacrest left from the show’s beginnings.
