All the ways to watch the Rent Live musical on Fox this weekend

Much like the recent hits Grease Live and Jesus Christ Superstar Live, FOX is hoping to tap into that same magic with their new “live to your living room” version of the classic musical Rent, dubbed Rent Live. Here’s what you need to know

Rent Live cast

This rendition of the musical will have some serious star power with a cast that includes Vanessa Hudgens, Jordan Fisher, Brennin Hunt, Tinashe, Brandon Victor Dixon, Valentina, Kiersey Clemons, and Mario.

Rent Live trailer

Fox has already premiered a trailer that includes the entire cast singing the show’s most famous song “Seasons of Love” with it’s instantly recognizable “five-hundred-twenty-five-thousand-six-hundred-minutes” refrain. Each cast member is introduced with a stark spotlight shining down on each of them with a bare stage and a black backdrop. As the song gets going, Hudgens gets on the megaphone to kick things up. Or maybe to tell Mario that his harmonies are flat? We’ll have to watch the whole thing to know for sure. But, in the meantime, you can check out the trailer below…

Rent Live premiere date

When does Rent Live premiere? Well according to my calculations it will air “four-thousand-five-hundred and sixty” minutes from 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. For, those who don’t feel like doing the math, Rent Live will premiere this Sunday at 8 p.m. on Fox. That’s right. Now you are officially on notice. So call up your friends, get out your old playbills from the original run on Broadway, and get ready to see the magic unfold on live television. Like any live show, there is potential it could go completely haywire or it could be an event for the ages.
