At Umami, the burgers are cut by hand, ground fresh throughout the day and hand-formed. All of the sauces and condiments are made in house too. We recommend the five-spice duck burger — it’s not on the menu, only those in the know can order it. There’s serious buzz about this place, which is up on Shake Shack level in terms of popularity. Don’t believe us? There was a three-hour wait on opening night.

Khe-Yo

Ever have Laotian food? Now’s your chance, at this new restaurant from Iron Chef and restaurateur Marc Forgione. “Laos sits between Vietnam and Thailand and we pull our culinary influences from both countries,” says Executive Chef Soulayphet Schwader.

Piora

Piora, which translates to “blossom” in Korean, showcases American cuisine with touches of Italian, French and Korean flare. Bespoke cocktails come adorned with handcarved ice.

In the former Otto Huber Brewery space in Bushwick comes Goldenrod, named after the beer the brewery made famous. It will house 40 American and international craft brews, 20 on tap and 20 by bottle — plus South Brooklyn Pizza.
