Rosamund Pike, the British actress last seen on the big screen in Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher” is working on a yet another book-to-film adaptation: The hotly anticipated “Gone Girl,” based on the bestselling 2012 novel by Gillian Flynn.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, Pike will play a wife who goes missing, making her husband (Ben Affleck) the prime suspect in the David Fincher-helmed movie.
The relatively unknown Pike was somewhat of a surprise pick for the lead, as many 30-something A-listers were hot for the role, including Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Olivia Wilde, Abbie Cornish and Natalie Portman.
