Sheldon Stephens: Underage Elmo sex accuser backpedals on recantation

More scandal on Sesame Street as the 23-year-old man who made headlines after accusing the voice of Elmo of having underage sex with him can’t seem to get his story straight.

Sheldon Stephens came out with the accusation last week that “Sesame Street” puppeteer Kevin Clash had a sexual relationship with him when he was just 16. Clash denied the allegation, saying he had a relationship with Stephens — but it was after he was of legal age.

Clash then took a leave of absence from the children’s show.

Soon after, TMZ reported that Clash agreed to pay Stephens $125,000 if he issued a statement saying “his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.”

Now, though, Stephens is meeting with more lawyers in an effort to recant the statement. He’s insisting he was pressured into reaching the deal, and he did, in fact, have a sexual relationship with Clash when he was just 16.

According to TMZ, Stephens is willing to give up the $125,000 to “restore his name.”
