“Eddie’s Love” by Eddie Kendricks

Although the first four seconds of this 1972 song may make you think you’re about to hear a proto-Pixies tune, those distorted and bent guitar notes give way to three more minutes of easy flowing soul and the type of confidence that a singer would need to sing in the third-person the whole time. The dude was the singer for the Temptations, so of course he could fly you beyond the sun and fill your pockets with moonbeams. But obviously these are meaningless things next to Eddie’s love.
