Sundance Scientology doc already causing trouble

We all knew Alex Gibney’s new Scientology documentary, “Going Clear,” was going to be controversial. But even still, some of the details coming out are pretty astounding. For instance, when Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise initially separated, Cruise reportedly wanted Church operatives to bug her cell phone due to fears that she would divulge secrets about the organization. And about that breakup? It was apparently “facilitated” by former Church official Marty Rathburn. How helpful!

Rathburn also claims that the Church “re-educated Cruise’s adopted children with Kidman, Connor and Isabella, into turning against their mother so that Cruise could retain custody” and then attempted to find Cruise a more Scientology-friendly wife for his next marriage. Hey, that’s no way to talk about Katie Holmes! Testimony in the film says that Scientology’s other most famous member, John Travolta, is pretty much sticking with the notorious organization because of how much dirt they have on him.

“Going Clear” debuts on HBO in March.
