Sports and art don’t often find common ground, except when it comes to skateboards, which are often a canvas for their riders to make a personal statement. To benefit skaters in NYC, Paragon Sports turned over two dozen boards to local artists for a benefit auction.
Paragon Sports (867 Broadway), in partnership with Vans, is showcasing the boards, which were donated by 5Boro NYC, in its 18th Street store window through Thursday. On Friday at 7 p.m., the most popular design will be announced and all boards will be auctioned off at a gala event with pro skaters, cocktails and live music to benefit The Harold Hunter Foundation. The community organization provides support, opportunity and advocacy for skateboarders in NYC.
Check out the boards, then cast your vote. (For every “Like” on any design, Paragon will donate $1 to the foundation, up to $1,000.) RSVP via email to firstname.lastname@example.org for Friday’s party; suggested donation is $10 at the door. For more information, visit Paragon Sports.
