Oh, Taylor Swift, you really need to calm down. The 25-year-old pop star decided to close out her banner year by trying to trademark a whole slew of terms, including “Blank space,” “And I’ll write your name,” “a girl named Girl,” Swiftmas” and … “1989.” (Which leads me to wonder how do you trademark, trademark a year?)

Swift filed 20 trademark applications in all, but don’t worry about them going through. Even if she is eventually successful, you will still be able to talk about the year 1989 without Swift’s express permission — unless you’re referring to her album. I know her tour literally just ended and all, but should we be worried that Swift has too much free time on her hands?
