Over the weekend, Lifetime’s Britney Spears biopic, “Britney Ever After,” premiered, and to be frank? It was a hot mess. Why does Lifetime keep pushing these biopics on us that nobody asked for— Whitney, Aaliyah and now this? They can’t even bother to secure the rights to the music, Britney's accent is all over the place, and for some reason, their depiction of *NSYNC looks more like a white trash version of Backstreet Boys. Like, I said: mess.
Britney’s fans weren’t having it, either. Here are the best of the reactions on Twitter. Thankfully, they are actually more entertaining than the so-called biopic itself.
At the very least, Justin Timberlake retained his notoriously corny ways.
FAKE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SAYING "the bomb diggity"??? IM SCREAMING. #BritneyEverAfter— kaysi (@julietknope) February 19, 2017
Fake Timberlake is as corny as the real one #BritneyEverAfter— alex ✨ (@amdeeeeeee) February 19, 2017
And apparently, the way that Spears and Timberlake handled their break up was with a dance off. Okay, girl.
You know what they say about the best way to get over a man—have a half-hearted dance off with him in the club. #BritneyEverAfter— Angela Stanley (@AngelaStanley01) February 19, 2017
Hahah wtf. Big fall out, meet in a club, Justin is mean 2 her and next min they're having dance off. Coz that happens. 😂 #britneyeverafter— Charlie Jefferson (@83charliej) February 19, 2017
As I mentioned, the depiction of *NSYNC was pretty damn terrible.
Casting call for #BritneyEverAfter: we need five white boys. Any five white boys. Just...be white— Clarissa Nicole (@five12studio) February 19, 2017
IS THAT SUPPOSE TO BE *NSYNC?! CTFUUUUUUUUUU #BritneyEverAfter— ✨(danity)kane✨ (@covochu) February 19, 2017
Twitter does agree on one thing, though: the only depiction "Britney Ever After" got right was the snake that Spears infamously writhed with in her iconic 2001 VMA performance.
Thank god for Banana.
