Monday’s episode of “The Voice” dropped a blond bombshell onstage as Adam Levine showed off his new platinum blond hairdo. Levine said he digs his new look and feels like a “cyborg.”
Gwen Stefani, next season’s coach, made a comeback with “Hollaback Girl,” performed with Levine and Pharrell Williams, who will also be joining the coaches for Season 7. Pharrell then performed his song “Come Get It Bae” (minus Miley Cyrus). Rounding out the celebrity performances was one by Blake Shelton and Gwen Sebastian from Season 2.
On a side note: Shelton and Levine, original coaches and veterans of the show, kicked off “The Voice” in April 2011 with CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera. After coaching for four seasons, Green and Aguilera stepped down to fulfill other obligations, which brought us new coaches Usher and Shakira. After two seasons of coaching, those two will also step down. Filling their seats (literally) will be Pharrell and Gwen Stefani. Besides all of these artists winning Grammys, does anyone else see the strange similarities in our coaches?
Moving on to the Top 8 Performances:

Sisaundra Lewis (Team Blake): Lewis kicked off the night singing Tina Turner’s “River Deep, Mountain High,” which she dedicated to her mother. It was a classic Lewis performance – both elegant and powerful. The artist received full praise from all four coaches.
Audra McLaughlin (Team Blake): McLaughlin performed a ballad, with Rebecca Lynn Howard’s “Forgive.” The song was stripped to simplicity, leaving McLaughlin with only a piano. She gave a solid performance, but as a country soprano singer this was a step out of her comfort zone, so we’ll see what America decides.
Jake Worthington (Team Blake): Blake’s Texas boy performed “Hillbilly Deluxe” by Brooks and Dunn. After feeling under the weather this week, he still managed to give a pretty fun performance. Worthington is known to be American’s sweetheart, but was this performance enough to win the country’s vote?
Josh Kaufman (Team Usher): Usher’s soul singer performed “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bon Iver. There were high expectations for Kaufman after being praised on his last performance by all four coaches. We’re not sure Monday night’s performance hit the bar.
Kristen Merlin (Team Shakira): Merlin performed Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.” Merlin, also known as “The Mold Breaker,” has overcome a lot since the beginning of the show, but this performance seemed to be a step back and may have been the worst showing of the night.
Delvin Choice (Team Adam): Choice gave an emotional performance of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.” The song was definitely heartfelt and Choice did what he does best: hit those high notes.
Kat Perkins (Team Adam): The Rockin’ Nanny took a risk by performing Pharrell and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” She put her own twist on the song, giving it more of an edge, and the audience was pumped.
Christina Grimmie (Team Adam): Grimmie has definitely been shocking America with her song choices, and Monday night was no different. She sang Lil Wayne’s “How to Love.” What’s more shocking is the tiny 20-year-old’s ability to take a well-known song and make it her own. The coaches and audience loved it.
