Bill Hader had a great career at “Saturday Night Live,” turning his ace impressionist skills on a host of celebrities. But he’ll be best remembered for one original character: Stefon, the whispery gay-club kid who would rattle off a list of ridiculous nightclubs on “Weekend Update.”

The character was so popular that apparently some fans found Stefon attractive for real. “I was in the Strand bookstore once, and a guy came up to me and said, “I would totally f— Stefon. Seriously, I want that guy so much,'” Hader told Playboy. “I was like, ‘Thank you very much. I’m here with my wife.’ He said, ‘I get it,’ and walked away.”

Actually, maybe he could have gone for it. Hader’s wife, Maggie Carey, writer and director of “The To Do List,” actually asked him to pleasure Rachel Bilson more aggressively in the film. “During the sex scene I have with Rachel, Maggie said, ‘Um, I need you guys to fuckharder. Do you know what I mean? Rachel, you really need toridehim.’ The crew guys all said, ‘Man, your wife must really like you.'”

Bill Hader left “Saturday Night Live” this season after eight years on the show.

Hader has become such a versatile player that it’s hard to imagine “SNL” without him — and it sounds like he’s having a little trouble with it himself. “It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader told the Times. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’”
